Description

A hands-on session looking at a range of apps for the teaching of Computer Programming from EYFS – Year 6. The session ranges from apps to teach early programming concepts with EYFS pupils to more formal programming apps for use with Upper KS2. Ideas and resources that can be taken back to school and immediately implemented in the classroom.

Martin Bailey's biography

Martin has been a Primary School Teacher in the North East of England for the past eighteen years and currently works as Digital Enrichment Leader at Lanchester EP Primary School (Co.Durham). In addition to his part-time role at Lanchester EP he is also Director of his own company (Animate 2 Educate Ltd). His company was formed in 2011 with the aim of bringing the curriculum to life via pupil workshops in animation, green screen and movie making technology. Animate 2 Educate has grown, developed and diversified and now Martin works in schools around the UK (and beyond) delivering not just pupil workshops, but also staff training and consultancy in relation to all aspects of Primary Computing. Martin has a particular specialism in the use of tablet technology within Primary Education and has had many articles published in educational magazines and online. He has presented at many national and international conferences and also hosts his own successful ‘Tech on the Tyne’ conference in the North East each year. Martin is a non-executive director of The ETA, the Education Technology Association.
